"First Do No Harm... Then Do Good: Equity, Environment, and AI"

SMHS Bicentennial Series Lecture: Featuring Jonathan B. Perlin, MD, PhD, MSHA, MACP, FACMI, President and CEO of The Joint Commission Enterprise
This lecture is part of the GW Medicine Bicentennial Series, marking SMHS as the first medical school in the nation’s capital and the 11th oldest in the country. Dr. Jonathan Perlin is the seventh President and CEO of the Joint Commission, and has previously held positions as the President and Chief Medical Officer of HCA Healthcare as well as the Under Secretary for Health in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

GWSPH 950 Awards (for the GWSPH Community)

The 950 Awards are given to alumni who display outstanding service to the school and have made significant strides in their careers in public health, health policy and health management. The award, launched to celebrate the school's 20th anniversary, is named after the School of Public Health's LEED certified building, located at 950 New Hampshire Ave., which provides a remarkable home to educate our students and nurture the research of our faculty. Registration for this event is separate from AFW registration; register at go.gwu.edu/950.

Family Leadership Circle Reception

VIP Pre-Reception + All-Alumni Party

By invitation only. To recognize the commitment and dedication of our key GW volunteers, and the generosity and philanthropic leadership of our Luther Rice Society, we invite Alumni Volunteers and LRS Members to this exclusive pre-reception celebrating you! It’s our opportunity to say thank you for being an integral part of serving the GW community.

Registration for this event is limited to two (registrant + one guest). Both attendees will receive free admission to the tropical-themed All-Alumni Party immediately following this event (7-9pm). If you wish to bring more than one guest to the All-Alumni Party, please purchase additional "All-Alumni Party with Sherwin Thwaites" tickets.

Acapella Palooza

Join us for the annual family and alumni weekend aca-concert featuring all of GW’s incredible a cappella groups, including: The GW Troubadours, Sons of Pitch, The GW Vibes, GW Sirens, The GW Pitches, and GW MotherFunkers. Doors open at 6:30 and show starts at 7! A $5 suggested donation to Miriam's Kitchen will be collected at the door.

Thurston Hall Open House

Thurston Hall is a GW icon that has played a central role in campus life for more than 50 years, creating thousands of relationships, stories and shared memories. We invite everyone to stop by and see this recently renovated and reimagined first-year residence hall. Vern Harvest

Join us on the Mount Vernon Campus to celebrate fall with pumpkins, apple cider, games, and more! Be sure to follow @gwmvc and @studentlifeatGW for more information.

Buses for the Vern Harvest
Coach buses are operating between 2 - 6pm on Saturday, 10/19 to take Alumni & Families Weekend attendees to the Vern Harvest at the Mount Vernon Campus. Coach buses will pick up and drop off from Foggy Bottom in front of Funger hall. Coach buses will drop off and pick up at the Mount Vernon Campus on Whitehaven Pkwy (entrance to the Mount Vernon Campus).

In addition, the Mount Vernon Express Shuttle (VEX) is running every 15 minutes in front of Tompkins Hall. Attendees with mobility issues should use the VEX shuttle as they will be dropped off at the clocktower stop closer to the Vern Harvest event.
